Thank you for choosing Coverdale Counselling. We are happy to meet your counselling & consulting needs. Please note, if you have not already spoken with us (either by phone or by email), you must choose the free 15-minute consultation prior to booking any other sessions online. If you already have a client profile AND if you have been seen by one of our practitioners in the last 12 months, feel free to select the time & treatment option that works for you (if you have not been seen in the last 12 months, your chart has been closed and you are considered a new client).

UPDATE We have closed our Riverview offices. Sessions currently take place via secure, privacy-compliant video or limited in-person sessions for equine assisted psychotherapy and walk & talk therapy (equine and walk & talk are dependent of weather and COVID restrictions)

CLOSURES Our first priority is safety. A reminder that if schools are closed due to inclement weather or road conditions, so are we. If road/weather conditions deteriorate over the day, we will contact clients to confirm opening or closing. It is advisable to check your email or text for information about closures. You may also choose to check our FB page for updates

NOT CURRENTLY ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS

A “new” client is anyone who has not received services in the last 12 months

I’ve been there. Maybe not in your exact shoes, but I’ve been there & I’m so glad you have taken this 1st courageous step - together we will work to equip you with the necessary tools to face and overcome life’s challenges. I’ve been that marathoner seeking a new personal best, the mom struggling with postpartum depression, and the caregiver battling compassion fatigue. I get it and want you to know that no matter what your uniquely personal concerns, you don’t have to be alone in your journey. I am here and I am listening.

Using a collaborative process drawing from several modalities, I will tailor a plan to meet your individual needs. No two people are the same, nor are the treatment plans; I may incorporate narrative therapy, mindfulness, or cognitive behavioural therapy. Your therapeutic plan will be as unique as you.

My practice is based on the premise that we are all humans and deserving of dignity, compassion, and respect. When you walk through my door (virtual or otherwise), I will invite you to sit and relax, take a sip of your favourite hot beverage, then we can chat.

Hi everyone, my name is Shelby (she/her) and I’m currently completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology through Yorkville University, and I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology through Mount Allison University. I have experience working with adults who are being reintroduced into our communities, as well as with youth in government care who require mental health supports. As a clinician-in-training, my areas of interest include working with clients who may be experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, and stress by using a strengths-based and client-centred approach. You are the expert in your life, and I am here to provide unbiased and compassionate support to you, regardless of your identities, and create a treatment plan that compliments you and your goals.

On a personal level, I enjoy tapping into my creative energy through various forms of art such as painting, knitting, and cross-stitching, as well as spending time in nature and with farm animals. A hot cup of coffee is often my companion throughout my day, so I invite you to join me with your favourite “pick-me-up” drink of choice during our session. I look forward to working with you to help you achieve your mental health goals.
